Wardogs Season 2 Patch Notes: Big Calibre Nerfs, Weaker Armor, a Cheap T-72 and Rain
Wardogs Season 2 is live, and the patch notes cut calibre damage, weaken armor, speed up leveling by up to 55% and add a $16,000 T-72B3. Here is what changes your next match.

The rifle that carried you through Season 1 just got quieter. Not the sound, the punch. Load into a Wardogs server today with your trusty .308 build and you will notice it on the first fight: the shot that used to drop a man now leaves him limping toward cover, and the guy who limped away just bought a cheaper armor kit and a Molotov.
The Wardogs Season 2 patch notes went live on Steam this morning, with servers down from 08:00 to 09:30 UTC (Bulkhead estimated about 90 minutes of downtime) for the October 15 launch. We covered the headline content in our Season 2 release date preview. The full notes go much deeper. This is a balance patch wearing a content update's clothes, and the numbers change how every squad should play.
The short version
- Calibre damage cuts across the board: .308 Win down 25%, 7.62x54mmR down 20%, 7.62x39mm down 19%, .50 Cal down 16%.
- Armor got weaker too: Level 3 damage reduction drops from 55% to 50%, Level 4 from 65% to 60%.
- Progression is far faster: level 20 now takes 111,500 XP instead of 250,000 (55% quicker).
- Four new guns and four new vehicles, including the M14, the T-72B3 tank ($16,000) and the Flakpanzer Gepard ($14,000).
- Team-killing now goes to a victim vote, with escalating bans for repeat offenders.
- The Wager Vendor is delayed and opens later in Season 2.
What changed in the Wardogs Season 2 patch notes?
Start with the guns, because that is where your next match gets decided. Bulkhead cut base damage on four calibres at once, and the biggest hit lands on .308 Win, the round behind the new Evo-3 Ultra LMG and the new M14.
| Calibre | Base damage change |
|---|---|
| .308 Win | 25% lower |
| 7.62x54mmR | 20% lower |
| 7.62x39mm | 19% lower |
| .50 Cal | 16% lower |
Armor was pulled back in the same pass. Level 3 armor and helmets now reduce damage by 50% (was 55%), and Level 4 by 60% (was 65%). Helmets also gain explicit suppression reduction: 68% for Level 3 and 80% for Level 4. The notes add that a Scout Rifle headshot now one-shots a target without a helmet, while a Level 1 helmet means it takes two.
Our read: cutting gun damage and armor protection together is a deliberate wash on paper, but in practice it favors whoever lands more hits. Heavy calibre one-tap fantasies are out. Volume of accurate fire, and helmets for the suppression benefit, are in.
What are the new guns and vehicles in Wardogs Season 2?
Four weapons and four vehicles join the vendor. Prices below are the vendor prices listed in the official notes.
| New item | Type | Price |
|---|---|---|
| PP-19 Bizon (9x19mm) | SMG | $1,000 |
| TCX-SPR (7.62x39mm) | Assault rifle | $3,200 |
| Evo-3 Ultra (.308 Win) | LMG | $7,250 |
| M14 (.308 Win) | Marksman rifle | $7,400 |
| Wolf-110 | Light wheeled transport | $2,200 |
| Wolf-110 [M2 Browning] | Armed transport | $7,800 |
| Flakpanzer Gepard | Anti-air | $14,000 |
| T-72B3 | Main battle tank | $16,000 |
The T-72B3 is pitched as cheaper and slightly more fuel efficient than the L2A6 but slower. That comparison got sharper today, because the L2A6 jumped from $14,000 to $22,000 and the Havoc from $18,000 to $28,000.
There is also a Molotov Cocktail ($340, unlocked at Assault level 13 for $25k), which deals impact damage plus damage over time to anyone standing in the fire, and can burn destructible foliage. The Infrared Range Finder now runs on batteries that last around 80 seconds of active use, and its price climbed from $1,200 to $3,200.
Our read: the T-72B3 is the new default armor buy for most teams. Half the tank money for slightly less speed is a trade we will take every time.
How does the new rain weather work?
Rain is not just a visual filter. Surfaces, vehicles and soldiers get wet, the sound changes depending on whether you are indoors, under cover, in a vehicle or in the open, and rain falls through destroyed roofs. Rain also reduces spotting range and weakens Molotov fire.
Heavier rain brings thunder, and every player on the server hears the same strike from the same direction. Bulkhead's own advice: "It is loud enough to mask footsteps, so use it strategically."
What else changed in Wardogs Season 2?
Team-kills are now a vote. In the developer's words: "Team killing is now handled by a victim-driven vote, to allow for forgiveness but also punish purposeful teamkills." Choose Forgive or Punish. Punish votes stack toward kicks and escalating bans. If you respawn and leave the safe zone without voting, it counts as forgiven.
Team stacking gets a lock. Once a team leads by more than 10 points, switching is locked for 15 minutes after joining a team. A team trailing second place by at least 40 points gets a 20% vendor discount.
High ping now gets you kicked. Official servers enforce region-specific ping limits (no numbers published), kick players who stay above them for a sustained period, and block rejoining until the next map. Bulkhead says the starting values are lenient: "These initial values will be quite lenient as we hone in on appropriate values."
Progression is much faster. Role track XP requirements dropped at every milestone.
| Role level | Old total XP | New total XP |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | 35,000 | 25,000 |
| 20 | 250,000 | 111,500 |
| 30 | 500,000 | 318,200 |
| 50 | 1,500,000 | 1,150,000 |
Other notable changes: the Basic Parachute went from $100 to $500 while the Sport Parachute dropped from $1,000 to $700, the AK74 halved from $1,600 to $800, the Medical Bag gets 150 durability (was 100), and the Talon 9K-SAM reload slows from 2s to 5s while its build cost falls from 1,000 to 650. Controller players get an aim assist slider under Settings, Controller, Advanced (default 1, 0 turns it off).
The Lonestar experiment
For Season 2 only, Lonestar gets a cash and XP win bonus plus teamplay cash and XP multipliers. The notes do not list the exact numbers. The pitch is blunt: "Lonestar has cash... and Lonestar needs you." Logistics runs also gain delivery streak bonuses (for example, +$125 and +50 XP per consecutive pallet run, up to 10), while base logistics rewards were reduced.
Our read: this is Bulkhead using money to fix faction balance instead of nerfing anyone. Whether it works depends on numbers we have not seen yet, so watch the scoreboard over the first week.
