Battlefield 6 Area 51 Map and Vegas Strip Guide: Every Objective and the Developer Tips That Matter
EA just broke down both Season 5 maps. Here is every Area 51 and Vegas Strip objective, the destructible Control Tower, and the developer tips that will win you fights on October 13.

Somewhere under the Nevada desert there is a lab nobody was supposed to find, and on Tuesday a lot of strangers are going to fight over it with shotguns. Up top, a jet screams along a mountain ridge while a tank grinds past a downed aircraft on the lakebed. Two different wars, one map. That is the pitch for the Battlefield 6 Area 51 map, and its Season 5 sibling, the Vegas Strip, makes the same promise in neon: rooftops, hotel rooms, storm drains and a casino sign big enough to change a fight when it falls.
EA published a developer map guide for both on October 9, four days before Season 5 launches on October 13. We read it so you can walk in with a plan instead of a respawn timer.
The short version
- Vegas Strip and Area 51 are the two Season 5 maps EA has broken down ahead of the October 13 launch.
- Vegas Strip is dense urban combat built around four named areas: Olympus Pools, Crater & Storm Drains, Karat Plaza and Art Deco.
- Area 51 splits the fight: vehicles and aircraft on the surface, infantry in the crater tunnels and labs below, where three objectives sit close together.
- The Aircraft Control Tower starts as a sniper nest and can be brought down. EA's advice: take it early.
- EA's top Vegas tip: "Don't charge straight down the Vegas Strip."
Battlefield 6 Vegas Strip map: what is on it?
EA puts the design goal plainly: "The team's goal was simple: create an all-out warfare experience in an iconic urban setting." In practice that means each casino lot plays like its own small map, with interiors for infantry and open ground for armor.
| Area | What it is | How it plays |
|---|---|---|
| Olympus Pools | Hotel lobby and pool complex | Vertical infantry fight. Enter by the valet area or staff doors, or zipline to the roof and drop through the collapsed dome |
| Crater & Storm Drains | Crater ringed by a wrecked PAX convoy | Open vehicle and infantry fight above, tight close-range tunnels below the middle of the map |
| Karat Plaza | Public square with fountains and greenery | A destructible casino sign sits in the center and changes the flow once it drops |
| Art Deco | Hotel with a collapsed, rubble-filled interior | Room-to-room fighting inside, vehicles pressuring the outside |
The hard part, per EA: "One of the team's biggest challenges was balancing the experience for both infantry and vehicles." Their answer was alternate routes, interior spaces and cover for infantry, plus clear counters to anyone camping rooftops, hotel rooms or ziplines.
Our read: the storm drains are the map. Any route that crosses the middle without exposing you to the convoy crater is going to decide Conquest flags, and squads that learn those tunnels first will farm everyone sprinting down the boulevard.
Vegas Strip tips from the developers
EA's own tips, in our words unless quoted:
- "Don't charge straight down the Vegas Strip." The main road is a firing lane. Flank through lots and interiors.
- Take rooftops and upper floors first. Height wins fights on this map.
- Use the PAX convoy wreckage as cover when crossing the crater.
- Recon intel matters in a map this cluttered. Spot before you push.
- Pilots: use the skyline to reposition helicopters instead of hovering in the open.
- Use vehicles to cross open ground fast, then get out and fight indoors.
Battlefield 6 Area 51 map: surface war and underground fight
Area 51 is the bigger swing. EA describes large-scale military combat across the lakebed and mountains, with a separate infantry fight underneath. In their words: "Below ground, the fight shifts into tighter infantry-focused spaces hidden within the crater and underground facility."
| Objective area | Role |
|---|---|
| The Comms Area | Hilltop comms building and parking lot. Useful for infantry and for supporting air |
| Crash Site | Roadway around a downed aircraft. Main vehicle brawl, with hangars giving infantry cover against armor |
| Helipad | Mountainside overwatch with anti-air options |
| The Crater | The infantry heart of the map: tunnels, garages, abandoned labs and defensive positions. Three objectives are packed in here |
| Aircraft Control Tower | Starts as a sniper nest over much of the map. Bring it down and the fight moves to the rubble |
| Hot Climate Hangar | Infantry versus armor around a central platform |
| Cold Climate Hangar | Infantry-heavy objective with experimental aircraft |
EA says playtest feedback pushed the team to expand aircraft routes through the mountains, and to keep the underground tempo distinct from the surface battle.
Our read: three objectives in one crater means whoever owns that hole owns the ticket count. Expect the same meat-grinder energy as the best metro and locker maps, with the difference that the surface team can still win the match by holding the hangars and the tower. Squads that split on purpose, one fireteam below and one up top, will win more than squads that all dive the crater.
How do you win on Area 51?
Straight from the developer tips:
- Recon: use towers and ridgelines for spotting.
- Engineers: slow armor pushes, especially around the Crash Site and Hot Climate Hangar.
- Pilots: fly the mountain range, not the open lakebed.
- The Control Tower: "Securing it early can help your team maintain control of the surrounding area."
- The crater network: keep constant pressure on it to hold a central foothold.
When do Vegas Strip and Area 51 release?
Season 5 launches October 13. EA's map guide itself does not give a launch time, and neither does the coverage we read, so treat any specific hour you see as unconfirmed until EA posts it. KeenGamer reports that full patch notes are due October 12, that two of the season's three Las Vegas maps are playable at launch and that the third arrives later in the season. We cover the rest of the season, from Rapid Royale to the REDSEC changes, in our Season 5 release date breakdown and the full list of confirmed Season 5 changes.
One gap to flag: EA's guide does not list map sizes, player counts or which modes each map supports. We will update once the October 12 patch notes land.
FAQ
When does the Battlefield 6 Area 51 map come out?
Area 51 is part of Battlefield 6 Season 5, which launches October 13. EA has not published an exact launch time.
How many objectives are in the Area 51 crater?
Three. EA says the crater, with its tunnels, garages and abandoned labs, holds three objectives packed close together.
Can you destroy the Area 51 control tower?
Yes. The Aircraft Control Tower starts as a sniper nest, and bringing it down shifts the fight to the rubble below.
What is the best tip for the Vegas Strip map?
EA's own advice is "Don't charge straight down the Vegas Strip." Take rooftops and upper floors first and use the PAX convoy wreckage as cover.
What modes can you play on Vegas Strip and Area 51?
EA's map guide does not say. Expect details with the Season 5 patch notes, which are reported for October 12.
What this means for CNC
These two maps reward squads that talk. Area 51 especially punishes the "everybody run to the flag" habit, so this is the week to set up a fireteam plan: who holds the crater, who rides armor, who is on anti-air at the Helipad. Grab a squad in the CNC Discord on launch night, check the Battlefield 6 hub for our Season 5 coverage, and brush up with the weapon meta guide before you queue. See you under the desert.
