Battlefield 6 Weapon Meta After Update 1.4.3.0: The New Guns, the Interdictor Fix, and What to Run in Every Class

The EF88, BROD 3 and VSSM are in, the Interdictor is finally consistent, and Little Bird pilots got humbled. Here's the Season 4 weapon meta and what to run in every class.

Battlefield 6Console / PC

Season 4 dropped three new guns, and Update 1.4.3.0 on September 15 shook up the rest. Here's where the meta sits right now, what changed, and what we'd run in every class.

One note up front: the tier lists below come from community stat and ranking sites, and most were last updated before 1.4.3.0. Treat them as a starting point, not gospel.

The three Season 4 guns

EF88 (assault rifle). A bullpup built for mid to long range. EA pegs its sweet spot at about 20 to 75 meters, with a medium fire rate and manageable recoil. Community stat sites list it at about 675 RPM with a 30-round mag. It has near-flat recoil and is a strong pick in the AR class.

BROD 3 (carbine). Fast fire rate and good mobility, with a collapsible stock. EA compares it to the GRT-BC. Stat sites list it around 830 RPM, with damage that drops off quickly at range. It's a close to mid-range gun.

VSSM (marksman rifle). Integrated suppressor, subsonic ammo and an optional full-auto mod, built for "clandestine operations." About 450 RPM semi-auto with a 20-round mag. It's the number one DMR on wzstats right now.

Known bug: the EF88 and BROD 3 still use old headshot multipliers (1.34x instead of 1.4x base). EA's community team has passed it to the developers, but it's not fixed yet. Both guns are slightly weaker on headshots than they should be.

All three are in the Season 4 battle pass.

The Interdictor finally works

The Interdictor got a real buff in 1.4.3.0:

  • Minimum damage went from 62 to 80, and limb damage now matches chest damage.
  • The sweet spot is still there, but its damage dropped from 150 to 100 and its range moved to 120 to 160 meters. Soldiers have 100 health, so a sweet spot hit should still kill.
  • In REDSEC, damage to armor is now a flat 100 regardless of where or how far you hit.
EA's goal was making two-shot kills reliable. It's much more consistent now, and you don't have to play range roulette to use it. One catch: EA acknowledged it's doing unintended damage in Gauntlet, and a fix is planned.

Air vs. ground shake-up

  • AH-6 Little Bird: minigun overheat up about 33 percent, and damage to RCB-90 patrol boats and ATPs cut in half.
  • SLM-93A and 9K38 Igla: pilots no longer see which direction a lock is coming from, so these MANPADs actually scare pilots off now.
  • Transport helicopters now correctly take damage from small arms.
If you've been ignoring your AA slot, stop. It's worth carrying on Tsuru Reef and anywhere with light air.

Other Season 4 changes worth knowing

  • Sliding now needs a slightly higher movement speed to trigger, and it won't fire again just from holding crouch. Slide-cancel spam got toned down.
  • M320A1: Grenadier lost its bonus ammo (max ammo boost went from 5 to 4), and Cluster Munitions went from 6 submunitions to 3, blast damage from 30 to 20, and radius from 2 meters to 1.5.
  • New attachments: an Extended Barrel and the 1P86 LPVO sight.
  • Reticles got redesigned in 1.4.3.0 to cut clutter, and there's a new option to turn off picture-in-picture zoom on scopes.
  • Two new two-seat jets arrived in August: the F/A-81F Super Spectre and the F-74A Seacat, plus an assisted flight control option for new pilots.

What to run, class by class

Assault (ARs). No single gun runs away with it. The KORD 6P67 (just under 900 RPM) and M16A4 top most lists, with the EF88, NVO-228E, B36A4 and TR-7 close behind. Pick the EF88 if you like range and stability, or the KORD if you live up close.

Engineer (SMGs). The PP-19 and SGX lead, with the PW5A3 as the forgiving pick. The KV9 fell off after its recoil changes.

Support (LMGs). The DRS-IAR is the consensus number one, with the RPK-74M right behind. Godisageek also rates the KTS100 MK8 highly.

Recon. The M2010 ESR is the top sniper across every list we checked. For DMRs, the new VSSM leads on wzstats, with the SVDM as the alternative.

Carbines. The QBZ-192, SG-553R and new BROD 3 lead.

Secondaries. The vz. 61 and P18.

Our loadout picks

If you want one setup per class to start with: EF88 on Assault, PP-19 on Engineer with an AT launcher, DRS-IAR on Support, and VSSM on Recon for the stealth game or M2010 for pure sniping. Throw an Igla on somebody in every squad.

Got a better build? Post it in the Battlefield channel. We'll test it on the next CNC night and settle it the right way.
